Why Adults Need to Play More, Dream Bigger, and Go Stargazing Again

Somewhere along the way, adults forget how to be curious.

We become serious. Scheduled. Responsible.

We stop playing games.
We stop looking at the stars.
We stop imagining bigger possibilities for our lives.

And according to Dr. Kyle from  40 Over 40, that may be hurting our health more than we realize.

As part of his “40 Over 40” framework — a collection of 40 ideas designed to improve health and longevity after 40 — he includes some unexpected recommendations.

One of them?

Go stargazing.

At first, it sounds random. But the deeper meaning behind it is powerful.

Looking up at the universe reminds us that we’re part of something much bigger than our daily stress, routines, and worries. It reconnects us to wonder. Perspective. Possibility.

There’s something healing about stepping outside, looking into the night sky, and remembering that life is larger than your inbox, your deadlines, or your anxiety.

Another surprising recommendation from the framework is simple:

Play games.

Seriously.

Dr. Kyle referenced a quote often associated with Walt Disney: “We forget how to be 12.”

And it’s true.

Kids explore life without limits. They create. Imagine. Laugh. Experiment. They don’t constantly tell themselves why something won’t work.

Adults do.

Over time, many people trade imagination for survival mode. We become so focused on being productive that we stop doing things that actually make us feel alive.

But joy matters.

Creativity matters.

Laughter matters.

Especially after 40.

Because wellness isn’t only about diet plans and exercise routines. True health also includes mental freedom, emotional balance, purpose, connection, and moments of genuine happiness.

That’s the heart behind the 40 Over 40 movement.

It’s not just about living longer.

It’s about feeling alive while you’re living.
